Commitment to access
Accessibility statement
Our commitment to making this website accessible to everyone.
Our commitment
Nationwide Healthcare Providers Ltd (NHPL) is committed to making this website accessible to as many people as possible, including those with visual, motor, cognitive, or hearing impairments. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard.
What we have implemented
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone. A visible skip-to-content link is provided at the top of every page.
- Visible focus indicators — focus outlines meet WCAG AA contrast requirements and are clearly visible when navigating by keyboard.
- Alternative text — all meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked as presentational.
- Semantic headings — pages use a single
<h1>followed by a logical hierarchy of<h2>and<h3>headings to aid navigation with screen readers. - Reduced motion — animations and transitions are disabled for users who have set a preference for reduced motion in their operating system.
- Colour contrast — text and interactive elements use NHS colour tokens that meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text).
- Responsive design — the site is usable at text sizes up to 200% without loss of content or functionality, and works on mobile, tablet, and desktop.
- ARIA landmarks — the page structure uses semantic HTML landmarks (
<header>,<main>,<nav>,<footer>) to help screen reader users navigate efficiently.
